| Indigenous to the Atlas
Mountains, Chad and Barbary Coast of Northern Africa, Aoudad Sheep were
introduced to West Texas in the early 1950’s.
They have since flourished and found their home in some of the
Trans-Pecos region’s rugged mountain ranges, including the Davis, Glass
and Chinati Mountains. Best of all, this magnificent trophy could be the best
sheep hunting value in the world.

Davis, and Culberson counties in West Texas.
This is some of the most premier free-ranging Aoudad habitat in the
state without exception.

With
their eyesight being their basic means of defense, Aoudad are extremely
wary and inhabit some of the most inaccessible terrain. This trip requires extreme physical capability since elevations
range from 4000 feet to 7000 feet in some of the roughest and most
isolated country in Texas. On
a typical hunt, most time is spent getting into these areas on foot
carrying a daypack and your rifle, looking for a trophy ram, and then
closing the distance with a heart-pounding stalk. During your hunt you can expect to see 50 to 200 sheep in a
four-day hunt. In some cases

September and October, we have seen herds of over
200 animals. With the luxury of having
numerous sheep ranches leased, we can determine which one is best for the
time of year you choose to hunt and can move accordingly to that property.
Generally the best months to hunt are September through the end of March.
Mature rams will have a live body weight of 300+ lbs and horns up
to 34”+ in length. Our
clients have averaged 10-year-old rams measuring 29 ½” in length, with
some being in excess of 34”. These
particular hunts have had 90% success rates on mature sheep since our
inception in 1994. Please

2006-2007 season hunt
facts
Our sheep
numbers are rapidly on the incline and this correlated with our large
amounts of acreage leased for our Aoudad clients proved to be the best
season we have ever had in 2006-2007. We hosted 41 hunters for Aoudad from
Sept 19, 2006 through March 20, 2007 with 37 rams being harvested.
Amazingly enough our average on all 37 sheep taken was 30 ¾” length. We
had 11 taken over 33”, 1 over 34” and 1 over 35 ½”. Some clients reported
seeing over 300 different sheep on a particular trip and on one ranch this
March we counted 78 rams in one day. Limbsaver Outdoors produced an Aoudad
television show with us this winter and will air this summer on the Men’s
Channel/ Dish Network. Thanks goes out to all of our dedicated clients
making us the largest free-range
aoudad
operator in the United States.
