| Mule deer are one of the most
valued game animals in the Trans-Pecos and Panhandle regions of Texas.
Whether it’s their limited distribution, low numbers or unique
appearance and behavior, most sportsman view the Mule Deer as a highly
sought after trophy.
Our exclusive property for Mule
Deer is located in the far Western part of Texas spanning across Brewster,
Jeff Davis and Pecos |

Counties and encompassing over 104,000 contiguous
acres of
prime deer habitat in the Trans-Pecos region. The ranch consists of mesquite,
catclaw, greasewood and choya cacti
flats, gently rolling hills with deep draws, and extreme diversity of high
mountain country covered with cedar, oak and juniper trees.
|
 |
|
Numerous springs flow year round and correlated with dirt tanks on
the ranch provide ample water for our Mule Deer herds.
Elevations on the property vary from 4000 feet in the low country
and gradually increase to 6500 feet in the Davis Mountains high country.
Temperatures for this trip will range from 20F in the mornings to
as high as 80F in the afternoons.

These particular hunts are
conducted safari style covering thousands of acres daily hunting very
slowly and methodically, constantly glassing and covering as much country
as possible to find our clients their mature buck. We hunt all day to increase your odds by walking out draws and
using deer calls when bucks are bedded in their sanctuaries during the
heat of the afternoon. Typically,
a client can reasonably expect to see between 40-100 deer per day and one
quarter of this number will generally be bucks. |

|
|
 |
|
Optics are a very crucial part of this hunt with an extreme amount
of glassing done daily. This
can be straining on the eyes, so we recommend the best glass you can
afford to bring, preferably in a 10x power magnification.
After a hard days hunt, clients
relax in our 2800 sq ft lodge on site, equipped with satellite TV, 4
bedrooms, 3 baths, central heat and air, full kitchen and spacious outdoor
porch with breathtaking views of the Barilla and Davis Mountains. |
| We host a vary limited amount
of hunters annually to ensure high success rates and trophy potential on
this property, so give us a call and treat yourself to a Western Texas
adventure that is second to none.

"Hunter, everything was excellent and
well-executed on my Mule Deer hunt this past
fall and hope to see you guys again soon. I
can’t tell you how exciting it was to take my
first Mulie and especially being 26” wide and
having a knowledgeable guide like Sid Davis.
Thanks"

2006 season hunt facts
This season rainfall amounts were poor during
critical antler development times in the Trans-Pecos region with no
measurable moisture from October till August 2006. We still maintained a
good numbers this season with 21 guided hunters who harvested 20 bucks
averaging 10 antler points and a 23” outside spread. We have implemented
an extensive protein, free-choice feeing program with 20 (1 ton) feeders
on our properties in 2007. This will dramatically boost our averages and
increase mule deer numbers, antler growth in future seasons, plus aiding
in higher fawn reproduction.
