Desert Safaris has access to some of the finest ranches in Sonora Mexico. These areas have been consistently producing some of the largest antlered Mule Deer to be found in North America without exception.

Travel to the famed Sonoran Desert South of Arizona where your hunt will be conducted per one on one guide service with a daily personal driver. These hunts are safari-style in elevated high-racks, covering tens-of- thousands of acres of desert flats

on numerous ranches located in the vicinity of Hermosillo, Mexico.

The deer numbers in these areas are not particularly high, yet the trophy quality is unsurpassed for giant bucks. Clients can expect to see 4 to 10 bucks daily with antler spreads on trophies ranging from 28” to 34” and occasionally some will exceed the 34” + mark. Typical scores will range from 175 to 220 + B&C with a reasonable expectation being a 180 B&C Gross animal, with 75% success rates. Temperatures will range from 30F to 90F on this trip.

We are one of the few operations in Mexico that charges a hunt fee for our services and a trophy fee if successful. This encourages hunters to be more selective and take a mature buck at their discretion. Competent guides and a vast knowledge of the area, compiled with game habits will be utilized to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience a field. You will have the luxury of hunting the end of the pre-rut and full rut, which will dramatically increase your odds for a high scoring deer.

You will fly to Phoenix and on to Hermosillo, Mexico where

you will be met by a representative to clear customs with your firearm and then transported to camp.  Ranches are within 1-2 hours driving time from Hermosillo Airport depending on which particular property you will be hunting.

The people in Mexico are extremely friendly and very helpful with a quick, hassle free entrance into the country. The accommodations
will be located on or near the property you will be hunting and consists of hot water, kitchen, generator or electricity and
comfortable beds. The lodging is rustic, yet clean. We will host four camps annually with only four hunters per hunt.  This is so we may provide a more personalized and attentive trip for each and every client and ensure the highest success rates possible.

2007 season hunt facts

This season we had below average rainfall yet our numbers and fawn crops sustained well with hunters reporting above average numbers and good to average antler growth. We hosted 21 hunters in Sonora this season with 15 clients harvesting bucks and 2 wounded that were unrecoverable. 2 of our deer gross scored over 190 BC and 1 harvested grossed over 210 BC. The majority of the remaining deer that were taken scored between 175-185 BC with 28” to 30” spreads. We are adding more ranches to our 8 currently leased and anticipate another successful season in 2008.
